Vernelle was born in Dallas, Texas on July 21, 1956, the second of six children of Julious Linwood Anderson and Elvie Lee (Roberts) King. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Vernelle joined Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She most recently joined Rockpointe Church, where she began participating in various ministry and inner city missions. One notable one being the Cornerstone Baptist Church Clothes Closet, where she was a personal shopper for the homeless.

She attended schools in the Dallas Independent School District and got her degree from University of Texas at Arlington in Business Administration. Vernelle worked in Client Services as an Account Manager for a large healthcare company.

In December of 1992 Vernelle married Rodney Wren and from that union came their son Julian of whom she loved dearly.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a loving husband, one son, three sisters, 2 brothers and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
